GUT biota indices: a new tool for WILD animal conservation
Funding: Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (H2020-MSCA-GF)

Timeframe: 01.07.2017 - 30.06.2019
WILDGUT proposes a multi-disciplinary approach to investigate the four-way interplay between habitat changes, host species, gastrointestinal parasites (helminths) and gut microbiota (bacteria) in natural environments.
Main goals of the project are:
- to better understand the IMPACT of HUMAN ACTIVITIES on MICRO-BIODIVERSITY;
- to identify whether such putative changes could have an EFFECT on WILDLIFE HEALTH;
- to develop new INDICES estimating host health;
- to inform and improve CONSERVATION STRATEGIES.
