The FoodTraNet network opens a call for applications within the framework of the FoodTraNet project (Advanced Research and Training Network in Food Quality, Safety and Security).
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action “Advanced Research and Training Network in Food Quality, Safety and Security” – “FoodTraNet” is designed to provide high-level training of a new generation of high achieving Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in a common platform of advanced mass spectrometric tools for food quality, safety and security. In the rapidly developing field of food science, researchers require a multidisciplinary, intersectoral grounding in these tools to extract all the potential from traditional and newly available methodologies and techniques.
FoodTraNet aims to recruit 15 outstanding and highly motivated ESRs to meet the ambitious goals of the project. Please see the presentation in the application information document .
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 956265.

- ESR 1 will apply the most advanced techniques in stable isotope ratio analysis to develop methods for the characterization of organic and conventional pasta, rice and cereals in general, as well as for their geographical traceability. Furthermore, in collaboration with Barilla company will look at ways to valorise rice and wheat residues, will obtain knowledge of the technological preparation of pasta and on the mycotoxin analysis by Mass Spectrometry. Secondment periods are planned at Barilla company, at INIA - Madrid and at JSI - Ljubljana;
- ESR2 will validate methods to verify the authenticity of traditional raw milk cheeses, will identify the presence of bioactive compounds and viable probiotic bacteria in traditional raw milk cheeses and in novel dairy products added with healthy and functional bacteria and will create a database of authentic samples of raw milk cheeses. Secondment periods are planned at Trentingrana company (Trento, Italy), at CSIC (Madrid, Spain), at JSI (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and at FF Ltd (Norwich, UK).
