In June 2010 Luisa started her research activity in the Biotechnology of Natural Product Research Group, under Dr. Stefan Martens supervision. Her research work focuses on the expression analysis of genes involved in biosynthesis of colour pigments in different raspberry genotypes and on development and analysis of molecular markers helpful for MAS in different Soft Fruit species.
Luisa received her MSc. in Biological Sciences in 1998 and her PhD in Biotechnology in 2004 at the University of Parma, Italy. As part of this PhD she spent one year as a Marie Curie Fellow at the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB), Cambridge (UK). Between 2004 and 2005 Luisa worked as research associate (fixed-term position) at University of Parma, then, in 2005, she started her collaboration at the Fondazione Edmund Mach, beginning to work on plant pathology at the Safe Crop Centre then working on Soft Fruit molecular genetics.
