His activity further comprises statistical analysis and data mining methods applied to spectrometric and sensory data. He co-authored more than 200 papers on ISI journals.";"I am qualified as a full professor in analytical chemistry and hold a laurea and a PhD in Physics. After my initial training in theoretical physics I moved to computational and experimental physics and data analysis and later on to mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry. To date I have led a successful career as an expert in direct injection mass spectrometry, co-authoring more than 200 papers in ISI journals (H-index = 36) and as co-founder of an innovative start-up company (3slab s.r.l) which has currently been running for almost 5 years. My career has been built around integrating mass spectrometry, on one side, with fundamental and technical developments and, on the other, with advanced data analysis and data mining. I initially began with projects related to ion and electron/positron optics, mass spectrometry and spectroscopy. In particular, I was involved in photo-fragmentation and photo-ionisation studies on molecular beams, tandem mass spectrometric investigations of surface induced fragmentation of molecules and clusters and spectroscopic measurement of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) emitted by plants. In 2000 I joined the Istituto Agrario di S. Michele all‘Adige-Italy (now Fondazione Edmund Mach, FEM). In my role at FEM I worked to develop Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (only proposed in 1998) from a rather immature technology to make it the key element of a fully automated high-throughput facility for the analysis of volatile organic compounds. This technology enabled the rapid and high-sensitivity analysis of VOCs with improved specificity and sensitivity. The key to the success of this facility has been my ability to marry, in the stimulating applicative context of FEM, my understanding of mass spectrometry with my expertise in data analysis. This research has led to an improved understanding of flavour and flavour-texture interactions across a wide range of agricultural and food products, from apples to cereal bars, from coffee to dairy products. I have built local, national and international collaborations that have enabled me to extend my research area both in fundamental issues as well in many different applicative fields as i) monitoring of fermentation processes in beer, bread and yogurt, ii) breath analysis, iii) waste management and biofuel production and iv) linking food volatilome with genomic to assist breeding programs. Multinational companies have recognised my expertise and usefulness of my research and have commissioned me undertake research projects on their behalf.";"www.fmach.it/content/download/17147/1649789/CV_2020_Biasioli Franco.pdf";franco.biasioli@fmach.it;;"C.R.I. - UNITA' QUALITA' SENSORIALE";;;;;0;;;;;;;;0;;;;; CLAUDIA;BISOGNIN;BSGCLD74B64L840J;"Responsabile Dipartimento Qualificazione Professionale Agricola";;0461615242;;3351614727;;;www.fmach.it/content/download/17151/1649811/CV-Bisognin_011222def.pdf;claudia.bisognin@fmach.it;;"Dipartimento Qualificazione Professionale Agricola";;;;;0;;;;;;;;0;;;;; LUANA;BONTEMPO;BNTLNU76A53A952P;"Responsabile Unità tracciabilità";var/fem/storage/images/amministrazione-trasparente/personale/posizioni-organizzative/luana-bontempo/169842-4-ita-IT/LUANA-BONTEMPO.jpg|;0461615138;;3311727737;"Her current research activity is focused on the development of analytical methods for the application of stable isotope ratio analysis to characterise and trace along the production chain many foodstuffs, in particular products of high value. He then joined the Center for Theoretical and Computational Materials Science of the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Washington and then he moved to the Physics Department of the Universita’ La Sapienza di Roma. In the year 2000 he joined the Systems Biology group of the Chiron Research Center in Siena as senior scientist. In 2008, after the acquisition of Chiron by Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics he became Head of the Genomics laboratory, and in 2011 Head of the Genomics Unit. Since July 2013 Claudio is Group Leader of the Computational Metagenomics group of the FEM in San Michele all’Adige.Claudio started his scientific career by studying the applications of the theory of stochastic processes to Electron Paramagnetic Resonance spectroscopy, in order to characterize the relaxation processes in liquids and other complex systems, like liquid crystals and polymers. Then, he moved to the study of the statistical mechanics of supercooled liquids and glasses. During his stay at NIST, he used molecular dynamics simulations to explore the dynamical properties of liquids on approaching the glass transition, a characteristic state of the matter that shares properties both of the liquid and of the solid state. After joining Chiron, he started to work on the evolution of protein families, on comparative genomics of bacterial pathogens, and on vaccine target identification and characterization using the Reverse Vaccinology approach. With the increasing availability of whole genome sequences of bacterial species, he worked on the definition of the population structure of bacterial pathogens such asS. pneumoniae, N. meningitidis, Group B Streptococcus and Non-TypeableH. influenzae. Lately, he was involved in the development of molecular typing methods of bacterial species using Next Generation Sequencing data. In his new role in Fondazione Edmund Mach, Claudio Donati is working on new computational approaches for the analysis matagenomic data. Given his multidisciplinary background, the focus of the work of Claudio Donati is the application of innovative analysis techniques to the understanding of the equilibrium between the complex bacterial communities and the environment.
