Research technician for an Italian-Norwegian research cooperation in Applied Ecology - deadline for application June 27, 2018
A position as research technician in Applied Ecology is available at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (INN), Faculty of Applied Ecology, Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology at Campus Evenstad from 01.08.2018 till 31.07.2021.
This position is an Italian-Norwegian research cooperation in Applied Ecology and the appointed candidate will be located 6 months every year at INN, Campus Evenstad and 6 months at FEM, San Michele a/Adige (Trento, Italy). The candidate will be formally employed by INN with a 70% grant according to Norwegian standards.

The appointed candidate will be connected to the project: Small mammal monitoring in a changing world: from community analysis to zoonosis prevalence and space use assessment. The aim of the project is to compare small mammal communities along altitudinal and latitudinal gradients in two Arctic-Alpine areas (Eastern Italian Alps and Eastern Norwegian Tundra) to identify ecological and epidemiological criticalities under climate change. In particular, the hypothesis of niche displacement of Alpine and Arctic specialists by opportunisitic widespread species will be tested, and the overlap of these species’ microbial community evaluated, with special focus on tick-borne zoonotic pathogens, and virome in general.
