About us

The Edmund Mach Foundation promotes and carries out research, scientific experiments, education and training activities as well as providing technical assistance and extensions services to companies. These activities are aimed at promoting cultural and socio-economic growth in the agricultural sector and at developing the forestry and agro-alimentary systems, with particular regard for the environment and the safeguard of the territory of the Trentino region. Since 2008 the Edmund Mach Foundation has continued to pursue the objectives and activities of the Istituto Agrario di San Michele all’Adige, founded in 1874.

EDMUND MACH, IL FONDATORE (Archivio Iasma)

On 12th January 1874 the Tyrolean Parliament in Innsbruck decided to open an agricultural school and a research centre in the former Augustinian monastery of San Michele all’Adige in the Italian Region of Trentino with the aim of increasing agricultural production in Tyrol.

Organization

The range and variety of tasks assigned to the Edmund Mach Foundation require a segmented internal structure. The governing bodies and the bodies entrusted with management activities are set out in the law establishing the Istituto, the provincial law no. 28 of 5 November 1990, and in the Regulations for organisation and personnel.
